25 Years of Jesse Remington High School: A Mission Worth Celebrating

On Saturday, March 25th, over 100 faithful gatherers attended Jesse Remington High School’s Mission Celebration Night of Giving.  It was a blessed evening of fellowship, prayer, student performances, a fun table activity, and special guest speakers.

Our first annual Mission Celebration Night of Giving was held in 2009. The event has grown over the years and  this year we welcomed a record attendance! The gathering has been taking place at the Candia Golf Links Evergreen Pavilion.  They have been wonderful hosts and we are grateful for the work they do to help make our yearly celebration a success.

Each year our Mission Celebration has a theme. This year’s theme was “The Master’s Wardrobe”, adapted from this year’s Koinonia verse; Colossians 3:12-14 (The Message).  “So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”

As guests entered the Pavilion, they were greeted and given a place card with a Table Name based on our “The Master’s Wardrobe” theme: Compassion; Contentment; Even-Tempered; Forgiveness; Gentleness; Goodness; Humility; Kindness; Love; Patience; Peace; Thankfulness.  There was an opportunity to walk around the room and see all the memorabilia displayed that helped tell the story of the 25 Year Legacy of Jesse Remington High School.

God’s presence was felt throughout the evening; from the Opening Prayer, led by Chairman of the Board, Pastor Ed Whitman to the Closing Prayer, led by Wes Shattuck (Alumni parent) and in student performances and guest speakers in between.  Special thanks to our Emcee, Craig Shillaber (Class of ’04), for sharing his testimony of how a JRHS education brought him to where he is today.   We appreciate the powerful testimony Deb Puderbaugh shared.  Deb has been a part of the school for 25 years as a teacher, board member, parent, and now alumni parent.  Our Headmaster’s Address, delivered by Jeff Philbrick, confirmed why we support and are passionate about JRHS, it truly is “The Best Return on Investment”.

Nearly a week later and we’re still celebrating what God has accomplished through our faithful supporters!  As our Business Manager, Scott Shillaber, shared at the Mission Celebration that our goal for the final quarter of our fiscal year is to raise the remaining $50,000 to complete our Annual Fund.   We are praising God for the generous donations and commitments made that $32,000 of that need has been met!  JRHS is so encouraged by the response from our guests and we are excited to share this praise report with you:

  • Financial Partnerships:
  • Service – 10 guests committed to various works of service
  • Prayer – 38 guests committed to a routine of prayer for JRHS
  • To date, 55 responses have come back to the office (prayer, service, financial)
    • $17,215 has come in to date;
    • With another $14,290 pledged to come in between now and June 300;
    • Sentinel Society support carries on beyond June 30 into next year as well;
    • The Sentinel Society, those who commit to support JRHS regularly, grew by six new members, now at 45 in total.

If you missed the opportunity to contribute, you still have an opportunity to partner with Jesse Remington High School.   You can partner by Prayer, by Service, by a One-Time Donation or a commitment to the Sentinel Society.  Email Scott at sshillaber@jrhs.org for more info.

Thank you to all who made it a wonderful event and THANK YOU for your support to the 2017 Mission Celebration Night of Giving! We look forward to the next celebration–our 25th Anniversary Celebration on June 17th.  Click here for more info and tickets.  It’s going to be a celebration for the history books!
