STUDENT LIFE

Athletics

JRHS is part of a small school athletic league that provides competition for schools of similar size. JRHS students can play three sports throughout the year: fall soccer, winter basketball and spring lacrosse. There is room on the teams for the most capable athletes, as well as students who want to play the sport more recreationally. Playing on a team creates some of the most lasting and meaningful life lessons as athletes experience the camaraderie and the thrill of competition. JRHS coaches are selected both on their skill in the sport, and their ability to mentor young men and women towards Christ.

JRHS also offers a selection of recreational clubs that meet at varying frequencies during the year. Some of the more popular ones include equestrian, mountain biking, skiing and rock climbing. Clubs offer skills and experiences that are unique to a particular faculty member who can offer the activity.

Mission Trips

Mission trip experiences are an integral part of the JRHS yearly experience.  Coming alongside an established long-term ministry is important to us and we have developed relationships with missionaries, churches, and schools in the United States and Internationally (Haiti, Hungary, and Switzerland).  The outreach opportunities are various including: children’s ministry, homeless outreach, building and renovation work, teaching, and more.

Each year, it is our goal to provide students with diverse opportunities to serve. A large part of the mission experience is developing empathy as students experience life in another part of the world. These sorts of lessons are hard, and some would say impractical to recreate in a classroom.  They are best learned being, sharing, working, and living side by side with others. Additionally, it provides the opportunity to apply and practice lessons being learned in a different setting.

Leaving behind the distractions of our fast pace life, these trips are a microcosm for community and personal Spiritual growth. Team and personal devotions along with journal writing are tools we utilize to help students process their experiences.  Our desire is for students to recognize during their time at JRHS that Christian Ministry is not limited to mission trips or even working in a church but can and should be part of our everyday lives as we seek to Honor the Lord. One reason we continue to utilize mission trips is the testimony of many of our alumni who share that mission experiences were critical in their understanding of their call and vocation.

International Students

JRHS is SEVIS approved and has welcomed international students for more than a decade representing such countries as the People’s Republic of China, South Korea, Vietnam, several European countries, Ghana, and Haiti.

JRHS is characterized by a close Christian community, small class sizes, rigorous academic expectations and a vibrant and supportive student culture. The majority of the international students that begin their education with JRHS, complete the requirements for High School graduation and have been accepted into U.S. colleges and universities.

Alumni

We are proud of the more than 250 graduates of Jesse Remington High School.

It's always great to see our Alumni come back to visit us at various events throughout the school year.

Many of our graduates go on to pursue college degrees, missionary work, the military, or successful careers in the trades. Marriage and family are also high values of our graduates.
