What year did you graduate from JRHS?

1996

What do you love about Jesse Remington High School and why?

I loved the small, close-knit community. School life wasn’t about cliques, and everyone was friends with everyone. We even had warm relationships with teachers who were involved in school life outside of the classroom in other school things like Outdoor Education.

Outdoor Education and urban experiences were some of my favorite experiences and strongest memories.

What experiences at JRHS have most impacted your spiritual life?

Life at JRHS opened my eyes to the Gospel. I didn’t have the whole picture until my time at Jesse, and this had an enormous impact on my life.

What experiences at JRHS have most impacted your family life?

My wife, Joanna, and I regularly hike. This fall we are camping in the White Mountains and will be taking nieces and nephews with us. The catalyst for my love of White Mountains was JRHS. I’m still seeking out and enjoying White Mountain experiences. I also finally finished that Mt Washington hike we started my Senior year but weather prevented reaching the top. We were so close!

What experiences at JRHS have most impacted your school or work life?

I now have a desire to always be learning, which is great because in my field of software development things are changing all of the time. Jesse Remington helped prepare me for continuous learning.

I learned to approach a topic from all sorts of angles. I read a large variety of literature. In Humanities, I learned to look at events from the perspectives of the people of the day. I still pursue full, in-depth knowledge and learning. In my field, I explore a large breadth of wisdom through reading works by industry leaders and a variety of other sources.

JRHS taught me to strive for excellence. I don’t want to just get the job done, I figure out the best process to use to get the best final results.

What is the one word you would use to describe the JRHS experience?

Formative

What would you tell parents to encourage them to consider enrolling their children at JRHS?

With the close-knit, loving community, your child can’t get lost in the crowd. Your children’s learning experiences will be “outside of the box,” with much broader and broadening experiences that are beyond the bounds of pure academics. It will likely instill in them a love for tough subjects, activities, and places they would have never considered otherwise. I love Shakespeare because one of my teachers loved his works so much, I learned to appreciate them at a more personal level.
