Freshman College and Career: Calling and Vocation

By Ellie Hvyonen, Faculty

The ninth-grade College and Career class has begun an engaging new unit on Calling and Vocation. Under Miss Ellie’s guidance, students are working through the Calling Student Leader workbook while also hearing from a variety of guest speakers who offer personal insight into these themes.

Today’s guest was the one and only Mr. Philbrick, who brought both wisdom and authenticity to the conversation. He thoughtfully explored the relationship between calling and vocation—where they overlap and where they diverge—while sharing his own journey of discerning God’s direction in his life.

Mr. Philbrick also offered practical advice and meaningful cautions for freshmen as they begin to consider their own paths. He concluded by sharing several of the Scriptures that have most deeply shaped and sustained him, giving students a glimpse into the foundation of his faith and decision-making.

It was a rich and memorable day of learning, reflection, and inspiration for all involved.
