What is Project-Based Learning at JRHS?
Project-based learning at JRHS is hands-on and grounded in real-world experiences. With a wide range of projects—such as Maple Sugaring, Model UN, Stained Glass, Drama, 3D CAD Design and Printing, Mock Trial, Timberframing, and dozens of others—students learn to create, build, communicate, perform, and design. Each year, students take five project classes, developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills, all while integrating Christian values.
Does JRHS offer physical education?
Absolutely! Instead of the traditional high school physical education program, we offer Outdoor Education. This unique approach equips students with a wide range of skills and experiences that help them discover lifelong ways to enjoy and appreciate God’s creation. On Friday afternoons, you might find our students rock climbing, practicing marksmanship, riding horses, hiking, skiing, kayaking, tackling ropes courses, or playing team sports. Outdoor Education is a distinctive and inspiring part of our curriculum—blending physical skill-building with opportunities to overcome challenges, grow as leaders, strengthen teamwork, and cultivate a lifelong love for the outdoors.
Spiritual Development
Does JRHS have a Bible class?
Students take four years of Bible class. The first two years survey the Old and New Testament. The next two years delve deeply into the Christian worldview, ethics, and apologetics.
How does a JRHS education help your students grow spiritually?
We begin each day with a devotion, grounding our community in God’s Word. On Wednesday mornings, students gather in small Bible study groups that foster spiritual growth, deepen understanding of Scripture, build strong relationships, provide support and accountability, and encourage application of the Word in daily life. Friday mornings start with Chapel, where students lead worship and guest pastors share a biblical message. Each fall, we launch the school year with a Mountain Retreat, a time for students to set spiritual goals and for the entire student body to strengthen bonds and grow in unity. In April, students and faculty extend their faith beyond the classroom, traveling across the U.S. and around the world to serve in the Gospel mission.
