The Junior/Senior Humanities students have a uniquely challenging Portfolio assignment this spring - at Old Sturbridge Village. Under the capable leadership of Jacob Samuelson and Jeff Philbrick, the students visited the village to do on site research to culminate their year of American Studies.
Students roamed about the village, looking for input on their portfolio writing on 19th century topics including industry, religion, family life, immigration, racism, education, politics and more. Of course the group visited and enjoyed the schoolhouse, that was moved to OSV from Candia after its life as a schoolhouse came to an end. Some of the Sentinels enjoyed some 19th century baseball, complete with running the bases clockwise. After the visit to the Village, the students write up their experience, blending it with the learning from the semester.
