Senior Feature: Karma Hignett

Karma Hignett of Northwood completed all four high school years at Jesse Remington. In her junior year, she attributes the Anatomy and Physiology class to inspiring her to make the decision to go into Nursing. This class was the most beneficial and she excelled in this class beyond all others.

Karma’s best experience at Jesse Remington was the recent mission trip to Costa Rica. Among all the trips she has been on in the past four years, this one stood out as the most impactful and meaningful. She discovered how her Spanish skills improved and her confidence grew as she engaged with the local Spanish speakers. Additionally, the medical aspect of the trip further confirmed her decision to pursue a career in Nursing.

When asked to describe her class, Karma reflected, “Our class was like going on a hike. We went through ups and downs, rocky paths and smooth paths. We had a hard time throughout the years, but this year we rose to the top. My class has never been closer than we are this year, and I truly believe it is because we have all grown and matured so much since our freshman year.”

Next fall, Karma will attend New England College for nursing with a minor in psychology. She will also be playing on the NEC DIII basketball team.

Karma gains inspiration from the scripture verse 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
