Senior Spotlight: Elliot Thomas Doty

Updated: 3 days ago

As we celebrate the Class of 2025, we shine this week’s Senior Spotlight on Elliot Thomas Doty, a remarkable young man who has spent the past two years at Jesse Remington High School growing in both wisdom and character.

A New Found Love for the Humanities

Elliot names Humanities as his favorite class — not because it came easily, but because it challenged him. “As a math-inclined student, I found writing and reading more difficult,” he shares. “But Humanities class opened my eyes to engaging and digging deeper into literature and history.” Through learning to think independently from a biblical lens, Elliot learned not just to appreciate literature — but to genuinely enjoy studying it.

A Life-Changing Journey to Guatemala

Among many meaningful experiences, Elliot’s 2025 mission trip to Guatemala stands out. Serving with Christ for the City International, he was blessed to join his classmates and incredible servants of Christ to bring hope to a community in need. “This trip built up my relationships with the spiritual leaders of the team, grew my friendships to a new and special place, and, most importantly, gave me a peaceful and assuring reminder to trust God in all that I do,” he reflects. It’s a memory he expects to cherish for the rest of his life.

A Unique and Unified Class

When asked to describe the Class of 2025, Elliot paints a portrait of diversity and unity. “We’re very different — in age, personality, and background — but we’ve truly come together as a sort of family,” he says. “Each individual has their own aspirations and is quite independent, but we all share a mutual respect and camaraderie that unites us.” It’s a beautiful testament to the community culture cultivated at Jesse Remington.

Guided by Scripture

Elliot draws strength and direction from Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Looking Ahead

After graduation, Elliot plans to enter the trades — pursuing an electrical apprenticeship and completing his training at the New Hampshire School for Mechanical Trades with the goal of becoming a Journeyman Electrician.
