During this first quarter of the 2024-25 school year, our Outdoor Education program has featured OE Plus! OE Plus includes four sessions of learning of a particular activity, for this quarter it has been: Fitness, Archery, or Marksmanship.
OE+ Fitness
EFX is a fitness training club for athletes of all ages and is run by Christ-following fitness director, Michael Bistany. Students are invited to participate in warm-ups and activities of various levels of difficulty, all while singing praises to God and praying together! The focus of the time is individual growth throughout the four weeks of training. Students have already demonstrated much growth and are looking forward to a strong finish!
OE+ Archery
A group of 18 students returned to the wonderful ancient Korean art of archery with Mr. Jin. Each week they can choose to start with western or Korean distance archery and improve their skills! Shout out to Esther Zhou and Ben Landry for hitting the target in the center from the longest distance!
In Mr. Samuelson’s words, “The target is the master, I’m just here to learn!”
OE+ Marksmanship
Students have spent three afternoons so far in Marksmanship. On the first day, they aimed for safety by reviewing shooting protocols and helped some of the newer shooters find their footing. In the second week, they explored sharpshooting tactics and improved their ability to consistently shoot multiple rounds in a tight grouping on the target. During the third session, they learned how to shoot without a bench rest and how to shoot standing up, Olympic-style. That day, most students had the opportunity to practice shooting while trying to maintain a tight grouping, which is much harder than it seems! As they are on target to make great improvements in the last two OE+ afternoons, they are excited to make the most of their Marksmanship lessons!
