Entrepreneurial Education - Stewardship

By Matt Hannan, Faculty

As I ponder godly work and investing time wisely, it's hard to avoid the concept of biblical stewardship. Often, Christians struggle to know how to use their time, or what the Lord wants for our lives; maybe even more importantly, the day-to-day.

One thing I find myself continually reiterating in response to these questions is biblical wisdom, applied. God has given us all that we need to know for certain about what we ought to be doing. We are called to love God, study the scriptures, and then apply them in every aspect of our lives. As Augustine famously said, “Love God and do what you will.” Our will becomes a desire to be obedient to our Lord. The problem we face is rebellion more than ignorance. We know what we ought to be doing with our time; we simply want to do something else instead. The age-old question arises in our hearts: ‘Has God really said?’ -– and we draw away from the perfect will of the Lord.

I have also many times heard people lament that they have missed out on blessings or the Lord's will for their life because of their sin. I think it's important to remember that even though we may fail, He is just and loving to forgive us our sin if we are repentant. In fact, He is so good that we cannot remove ourselves from His perfect plan for our lives. He will use even our rebellions to perfect us.
