When our son Nathan was in 7th grade, the Director of Admissions for Jesse Remington High School came to our church to give a presentation about the school. God put it in my heart and spirit to send Nathan here, beginning in 9th grade. We had been homeschooling since 2020 using an online academy, but when it was time to decide what he wanted to do for high school, Nathan unequivocally stated he wanted to go to Jesse Remington. We went through the admissions process, met with Mr. Philbrick the Headmaster and then Nathan spent a day shadowing other students. When he got home, he said he couldn’t wait to be a JRHS Sentinel. In August 2025, Nathan took part in JRHS’s weeklong summer enrichment program, which I highly recommend for those who are interested in attending this school. The program allows your child to get to know other students as well as teachers and staff while having a lot of fun too.
At Jesse Remington, they integrate classical learning (with actual books!) with a variety of online tools and programs. The teaching staff does a phenomenal job working with their students. Nathan struggled a bit going from homeschooling to having to sit in a classroom, but everyone encouraged him each step of the way, which is one of the things I love most about JRHS – the care and time the teachers and staff dedicate to make sure their students are successful academically and nurtured spiritually. This year’s theme is about acquiring “grit” and Nathan learned what that means the hard way on his first mountain hike. With his classmates cheering him on and lending a helping hand (or a small push upwards), he made it to the top and everyone celebrated his Accomplishment.

When you think of a school, you usually think of a big rectangular building with a few windows, drab halls and terrible fluorescent lighting. Not so at Jesse Remington. It is a unique campus where you can see former students’ craftsmanship from stained glass to woodworking and carpentry. The campus gives the students plenty of outdoor space for activities like basketball in warmer months to sledding in snowy winter. There is a sense of community and plenty of opportunities for building relationships between all grades at JRHS. You see it in their fall retreat, projects such as the Humanities Faire and Christmas Gala, and mission trips. Jesse Remington isn’t just a school. It’s a family built on God’s Word and His glorification first and foremost. It is where a student can flourish academically, make lifelong friendships, mature spiritually and deepen their faith to be emboldened to give witness to the light of Christ to a dark and sinful world.
