JRHS Annual Mission Celebration an Anchored Success!

By Jeff Philbrick, Headmaster

Nearly 100 Jesse Friends and Fans gathered at the Candia Woods Farmhouse venue to participate in this year’s Mission Celebration Night of Giving. The evening began with a time of open fellowship and appetizers, an opportunity for acquaintances and new relationships. Board member Zachary Bacon called the house to order at 7pm, to begin the more formal program. The highlight of the program was clearly the powerful Family Story, spoken by Will (’14), Bess (’21) and Heidi (mom!) Deacon. They shared how Jesse Remington was instrumental in their spiritual, academic and emotional formation.  They also shared how and why they faithfully contribute to the mission with their time, talent and treasure.

Part of the Table Fun of the evening was envisioning JRHS in the year 2050.  Guests had many laughs as they thought of things like hovercrafts for the teachers, virtual mountain climbing and books that read themselves! More importantly though was the strong sentiment that as JRHS has grown over 30 years, and as it will still grow into the future, it will remain “Anchored in Christ” to exemplify our event theme taken from Hebrews 6.

Headmaster Jeff Philbrick gave the plenary address, identifying 5 cultural pressures vying for the life of JRHS, and how the board, faculty and staff are daily contending to promote the mission of JRHS into the lives of every fortunate student and family.

The Night of Giving is our annual opportunity to support and grow the Jesse mission through giving. Pastor Steve Baker outlined this year’s remaining need of $70,000, and asked for God’s people to support. Each year, the Mission Celebration gives our Financial Partners the opportunity to contribute to the school’s success through the Annual, Capital and Scholarship Funds.

We are pleased to announce a big PRAISE and THANK YOU that at this time of writing, God’s people have donated very close to $40,000 to date! If you haven’t had the chance to make your contribution or make your pledge for the year, you can do so by visiting our giving link by clicking here. Please choose the "Annual Fund" Appeal from the dropdown menu. You will also have the option of making a one-time gift or set a reoccurring gift. If you're interested in learning more about our Sentinel Society and how you can join, please reach out to our Finance Manager, Jackie Lacy, at jlacy@jrhs.org.

Thank you for your continued support of your time, talent and treasures that have a lasting impact in the lives of our future leaders for Christ!
