Koinonia: Gathering in Faith and Fellowship

By Kathy Carlson, Director of Admissions

Koinonia—drawn from the Greek word for fellowship and shared life—is our weekly small group Bible study, held each Wednesday morning. The day begins around the breakfast table, where meals generously provided by student families set a warm and welcoming tone. From there, students gather in small groups, creating space for meaningful conversation, encouragement, and prayer.

We are especially grateful for the diverse and dedicated leaders who guide these groups. Local pastors, parents of both current students and alumni, and alumni themselves invest faithfully in our students, offering wisdom, perspective, and care that enrich each gathering.

This year, our study centers on the Book of John. Together, students are thoughtfully unpacking Scripture—examining not only what the text says, but how it speaks into their daily lives and future callings. Discussions often move beyond the page, inviting students to wrestle with questions of faith, identity, and purpose in a supportive and Christ-centered environment.

Koinonia has become more than a weekly meeting; it is a steady rhythm of connection and growth. It nurtures students’ spiritual development while also strengthening the bonds of community, fostering relationships that encourage, challenge, and endure well beyond Wednesday mornings.
