Preparation for the El Salvador Mission Trip

By Ellie Hyvonen, Faculty

This year, our school is embarking on two mission locations: El Salvador and Washington D. C.

El Salvador is part of the broader ministry called Christ for the City International which serves in over 15 countries, three of which Jesse Remington has had the opportunity to partner with. This year, we are serving with Pastor Alexis Coto and his family and ministry in the mainland Jicalapa. On this trip, one of the main goals is to bring a Vacation Bible School (VBS) to the children in the community and to finish building a children’s home that will be used for offering meals, Bible and school classes, and trades classes for women and children.

Last week, Team El Salvador prepared Bible lessons, crafts, and activities for the VBS camp they will be hosting. They are grateful for all who have contributed clothing and other items, and are excited to pack their team suitcases on April 1st. Their building fund goal of 5,000 is STILL going so please prayerfully consider joining the cause. You can make your gift today by clicking here.

This week we packed all our supplies that have been donated from medical supplies, clothes, shoes , school and art supplies and more!

We are excited to arrive to Jicalapa Monday afternoon and see the extent of the children home construction project the following day. While some will work on construction with the translation help of Miss Ellie and a few El Salvadorans, other students will run a children’s Bible camp with Señorita Cataño translating and bless the local community that comes to Alexis ministry for vocations classes, food, and the Word of God!
