Alumni Spotlight: Amy Uscinski, Class of 2020

By Amy Uscinski

What have you been up to since graduation?

I started working for Whole Foods Market when I was just a sophomore in high school. After graduating from Jesse Remington High School, I opted to continue my career with Whole Foods. About a year after I graduated, I applied to be a supervisor for Customer Service and E-commerce. Since then, I have moved up and am now an Associate Team Leader. Being a leader for my team has been extremely rewarding. This year I have graduated from their Career Development Team Leader program and am looking to move into a Team Leader role soon. I have been able to travel a significant amount, both foreign and domestic, which I would not have been able to afford had I put my career on hold after I graduated.

What are your next steps?

My next steps, besides moving up in my career, are to keep traveling, keep making new friends, and taking good care of myself. I’ve had the opportunity to take several trips to European countries, and want to keep exploring and adding stamps to my passport. The city of Paris has become a favorite of mine and I’m blessed to have been able to visit a couple of times. I have met many lifelong friends through work and they have helped me grow in and out of the workplace. My career keeps me very busy and I often work a lot of overtime as I strive to be the best leader I can be for my team. I want to continue to make time for friends and family and live a life I am proud of.

What are 1-2 skills you learned at JRHS that have been beneficial to you in your time as an alumna?

Time management and my organizational skills have been huge! At work, even when my day is planned out, the priority of tasks is ever-changing. I’m constantly re-evaluating what I need to get done right now vs what I plan to get done. When you’re running a team of about 45-50 people, while also taking care of our customers in the store, there can be a lot to keep track of. However, learning how to stay organized through my portfolio seasons has helped me stay on track with all my team members' needs and my daily tasks, too.
