El Salvador Mission Trip - Saturday April 11

By Jeff Philbrick, Headmaster

Today was our fun and touring day. On the road at the ripe and ready time of 6 am, Roland and Alexis took us down the coast towards the notorious national park~ the Santa Anna Volcano. A packed breakfast in the vans, a quick stop for potty and a coffee, and we were on the trail by 9:30 in the morning. Our local guides took us up the well worn trail to the upper cone of the volcano. Similar to climbing one of the smaller mountains in New Hampshire, a journey was refreshing, exhilarating, and a whole new experience for the team. And happy to say, although it is still an active volcano, it did not erupt today!

Heading back to the city we enjoyed a nice lunch at a local rotisserie chicken restaurant. Nothing like chicken, lunch and papaya juice, after a long hike to a volcano!

We completed our touring day with a visit to the capital city, San Salvador. We walked around, enjoying the local flavor, took a tour of the presidential palace, and found gifts and sweet treats to enjoy.
