Ever wonder what ACTUALLY happens in Freshman College and Career?

JRHS students explored study habits with Thomas Frank’s “8 Habits You Should NOT Do Every Morning.” They identified habits they’d like to change and partnered up to stay accountable as they try one NEW habit this week!

Then, they stepped into the world of upper-level discussions, learning Socratic questioning and how to lead meaningful conversations beyond simple yes-or-no answers. Each student chose a reading, practiced the five steps of “power previewing,” and led a small-group discussion with open-ended questions and thoughtful follow-ups.
We wrapped up with typing practice and “floor time” (as Miss Ellie calls it!), stretching, deep breathing, and laughter. Because learning well means caring for both mind and body!
Now THAT’S hands-on learning that prepares students for success in high school, college, and beyond!
