SENIOR PERSPECTIVE: Andrew Shares About Outdoor Education

Outdoor Education (OE) holds some of my favorite memories of my time at Jesse, in particular the three hikes each year. They present a unique opportunity to spend hours with peers who could be close friends or new freshmen you have not yet gotten to know. When you are on a mountain, there is not much to do besides talk, so you get to know those in your group pretty well.

For the springtime hike, there is an option to do an overnight hike that is more difficult, which I decided to do last year. This group was a blast, and we had so much fun the night before the hike playing frisbee for hours, cooking our dinner together, and sitting around a campfire with Elliot (a 2025 graduate) playing the guitar. When I look back on my high school years, this overnight hike will definitely be one of my fondest memories.

OE has given me the opportunity to take part in many new sports and physical activities that I would have never tried if I had not attended Jesse Remington High School. I have grown in many skills that have directly improved my abilities in the two sports I play, basketball and soccer, and I am very grateful for the OE program.
