This October, Jesse Remington High School held its 32nd Annual Humanities Faire, one of our school’s most beloved traditions. This year’s theme was the Victorian Era, and students transformed the campus into a lively village full of history, creativity, and fun.
Guests met famous figures like Queen Victoria, Jane Austen, Mark Twain, Florence Nightingale, Alexander Graham Bell, and Thomas Edison—all brought to life by our students through research, costumes, and role play. The fairgrounds buzzed with games, inventions, and stories that helped everyone experience what life was like in the 1800s.
A new feature this year was the Victorian Marketplace, where several students acted as young entrepreneurs. Each created a product or service from the era, made a sales pitch, and invited guests to “invest. The Marketplace was a huge success and a perfect fit with our new Entrepreneurial Program, giving students a fun and hands-on way to practice creativity, persuasion, and business skills. It also served as a great fund raising event for our spring mission trips.Â

One special highlight was seeing one of our seniors return to the role of Annie Oakley—a part she first played 10 years ago as a youngster. Watching her portray Annie again, this time as a senior, was a wonderful reminder of how our students grow through the years.

After the final performances, everyone gathered for a Victorian Dinner and Dance. We shared a potluck meal, then enjoyed traditional fiddle music and learned some lively contra dances together. It was a joyful ending to a weekend full of learning, teamwork, and community. Many thanks to all those who supported this great event!
