The JRHS Faculty and Staff met recently for their monthly business and professional development meeting. We were blessed by a lovely lunch provided by the Hyvonen family. At these meetings, we begin our time with a devotion, and Pastor Steve Baker led a focus devotion from 1 Corinthians. Another part of our culture is passing along "Jesse the Sentinel", our effort to strengthen our core values of perseverance, resilience, empathy and courage. Our recent recipient Cheryl Crawford passed it along to this month's recipient, Matt Hannan, for his strong start to the fall term, as well as assimilating a new marriage as well as graduate school. Gift giving is always a fun part of these meetings, and I was pleased to hand out a few Summit books, but our "Big Deal" gift was the inaugural team shirt for our newest faculty member, Marissa Fuller.
Work items for the afternoon included Fall Mountain Retreat review, Health and Safety training, Corporate Goals review, updates on the land/campus projects we are working on, and general preparation for continued mission excellence. This meeting then included participation from two Board members (Theresa Trombley and Martha Bacon) from the Strategic Planning Committee. They ran a great review and vision forum in regards to our strategic plan https://www.jrhs.org/building-on-the-solid-foundation and in particular they solicited input from the Faculty on Curriculum development and documentation, our growth in Differentiated Instruction (DI), and our progress in STEM offerings. All told, it was a wonderfully productive meeting.
