Day 4 - A full day for Team Philadelphia

By Carter Martens, Faculty

Team Philadelphia took a step back from working on site and spent the morning in historic Philadelphia.  We got to visit Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written and signed. We also got to spend some time at the Constitution center where we got to learn even more about American history.

After a quick lunch, we then drove out to Sight and Sound theater where we enjoyed 30th Annual production of "Noah".  The performance was deeply rooted in scriptural references and understanding and even tied in Noah’s story to the story of Jesus. Following this, we went to a Smorgasbord with fantastic food before our venture home.

Student reflection: What is something that you want to take back home from this week?

Josh: I hope to have taken home a better understanding of American history. I also hope to earn a greater appreciation of Amish people.

Skye: In the future, I hope to be able to express this newfound understanding of colonial America and our founding fathers. The Constitution Center was very interesting.

Audrey: Today I got to experience the 19th amendment gallery in the US Constitution Center. I love studying that era of history and hearing about the brave women who fought so hard for the right to vote. Women were so under men they couldn’t even vote in a “free country”. The women of the suffrage movement changed that forever and I’m so glad I get to learn about their fight for equality.

Mackenzie: the encouragement we saw on the work site and how we all fit in with our different jobs
