The JRHS Curriculum Guide and The Portrait of a Graduate

By Susan Sicard, Director of Curriculum and Instruction

The pursuit of excellence in learning is an essential aspect of the JRHS mission. Several years ago the faculty worked on creating The Curriculum Guide which described the offered courses. This summer it was time to review and update this document to accurately represent the development of our curriculum including new aspects of the program: expanded Foreign Language, development of the College and Career program, and the new Entrepreneurial Education program. We are thankful to report that after many hours of editing and collaboration we have an updated Curriculum Guide ready for new families when they visit our school.

Simultaneously, we also worked to create a Portrait of a Graduate which helps to summarize our Essential Student Outcomes into a succinct one page handout for new families. For the faculty, this document serves as a reminder of what we are trying to accomplish each day as we work with students to help them learn, grow, and develop. We hope these efforts will help prospective families as they consider joining the JRHS community.
